Maintaining your fitness is an important part of your overall health. Endurance swimming is an essential element of maintaining a high level of fitness and endurance. The Endurance 1000 Program is designed to promote year round fitness through distance swimming.
The program comprises 62 distance swims from 400m to 1 hour over the calendar year. The program is voluntary and you can pick the endurance swims that match your preferred strokes and build up the distance as your fitness improves.
At the shorter distances of 400m and 800m a maximum of 5 swims in every stroke plus medley can be completed over the calendar year but only one stroke and distance combination per month. The longer distance swims comprising 1500m, ½ hour, ¾ hour and 1 hour are only swum once in the year and only in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.
Based on your gender and five-year age group you receive points for the club and yourself. The points system has three levels and as your fitness improves your receive more points. At the end of the year the club with the most points will be declared the Vorgee Endurance 1000 Champion Club.
As an extension of the program, the Vorgee Endurance 1000 Award goes to the club averaging the highest number of points per registered member. This is designed to encourage as many members as possible in each competing club to complete one or more events in the Vorgee Endurance 1000 program.
Armadale Masters Swimming also awards our highest scoring female and male the Club Endurance 1000 Trophy.
