Saturday Morning Pre-Swim Cross Training

27th February 2013

Be inspired to break barriers, get out of your comfort zone and sweat it out with Saturday morning pre-swim cross training, a new challenge and an unbeatable workout that will have you coming back for more.

Saturday morning pre-swim cross training will be outdoors at the Armadale Aquatic Centre, and I will help take your fitness to a whole new level.  You’ll build strength, endurance and gain fitness. Saturday morning pre-swim cross training is free and exclusive to all members, life members and potential new members of the Armadale Masters Swimming Club.  It’s suitable for members of all ages, size and fitness levels, it provides the perfect cross training addition to a normal training program and will give that extra level of motivation and support needed to get results faster.  Saturday morning pre-swim cross training will run every week from 7:30am to 8:30am while we are still at the Armadale pool except on Club Championship days. Our first day which is on the Saturday the 9th of March will start 15 minutes earlier (7:15am) for a quick brief on what we will be doing.

What can I expect?

You can expect a physically challenging workout that will improve aerobic conditioning, muscular endurance, strength, mobility and balance. I will be encouraging you to give it your all and pushing you outside of your comfort zone whilst still having fun.  Expect lots of running, squatting, pushing and lunging – There will of course be lower/easier options throughout the whole session for those who are not up to speed or are carrying any ailments.

Do I have to be fit to do it?

Not at all, Saturday morning pre-swim cross training caters for all fitness levels – whether you’re just getting into exercise on land, or you’re a seasoned tri-athlete looking for a new challenge.  If you’re unsure then please see your doctor first.

What do I need to bring?

Protective clothing if the weather calls for it as we will be training rain, hail or shine, 2 water bottles in addition to your normal swim drinking water, an extra  towel and any medication which you may need, such as an asthma inhaler or epipen.

Hope to see you all there.

Jeff

HBF Outdoor Fitness

29th January 2013

Hi everyone,

Just touching base with this one and to date we the following members have taken advantage of the free HBF Outdoor Fitness program with Jenny, Graham & Judy Hicks, Greg, Mary, Liz, Simon, Jeff and our head coach Heather.  I must say it is well run and everyone so far feeling the pain but not yet the gain but that will come over the next few weeks.  What it does show is that swim fitness and land fitness are 2 different things.  Sessions are Wednesdays 5:30 to 6:30 and Saturday mornings 7:30 to 8:30 giving plenty of time to get to the pool for training.

Why not come along and join us?  I will be missing this coming Saturday’s session as we have the club championships that morning but otherwise I will be attending all the sessions that run until 2nd of March.

To do the Free Exercise Classes all you have to do is register, you may be still be eligible even if you’re not an HBF member.

2013 Armadale Masters Club Championships

22nd January 2013

Hi Swimmers,

The 2013 club championships starts with round 1 on Saturday the 2nd February.  It will be the same format as last year with a total of 10 rounds from February to November.

As you will see all swims this year are again choice and the rules are basically based on beating or swimming as close as possible to your own time and not actually racing against other swimmers.

Note that 25m pool and 50m pool swims are recorded as different events.  To view the club championship rules and club championship calendar go to our Events Page.  If you’re not sure how it all works or which is the best way to approach each round then please feel free to ask me for clarification.

Hope you enjoy the event and wish you all the best of luck with your swims

Regards,

Jeff

Busselton Jetty Entries Update

4th January 2013

Hi Swimmers

They are “capping” entries at a total of 1500 swimmers, that includes the number of solos and total members in teams.

If you re thinking seriously of doing the swim as a solo or as a member of a team, please avoid disappointment and get your entry in NOW.

Leave it and you may miss out.

Also look at accommodation, it is one very busy weekend at Busselton, and no doubt places to stay at are or have been booked already.
